T-Shirts
I got this idea from my friend Susanna, an accomplished artist with a fine taste for colours and original fashion sense. Since unusual fashion labels are ridiculously expensive and mainstream shops settle for the lowest common denominator, it's much more rewarding to paint your own.
My first experiment. Celebrating The Two Towers, in cinemas this Christmas! We had great fun last year with Mum, trying to get to the mainland in full blizzard to see Lord of the Rings... (she lives on an island). We made it on the third try. | A winged Sufi heart with crescent moon and star. Underneath, in Arabic calligraphy, the word SALAAM. Peace be with you! I wanted to do a girly shirt celebrating the finer sides of Islam. Please, I'm serious. Sufi mysticism has attracted followers of all creeds because of its universal and tolerant message. On the other hand, many Sufists have suffered persecution because their interpretation of Islam is somewhat eccentric. | The Mitsu shirt in honour of a big, black-and-white and beautiful princess! The violet paint is sparkling, but it's difficult to see on the pic because it reflects the light. She is prettier in real life... And her legs and botty department look weird because the shirt model is wearing a well-padded bra. | This tank top was created because I searched for Trabi t-shirts on the Internet and couldn't find any. German fashion stores for trendy youngsters sell GDR apparel and Pionier shirts (the youth organization of the GDR), but remarkably, no Trabant gear. This is after all the car that proved the success of Real Existierender Sozialismus. It is cute, it speaks, it has a cool logo. It is a movie star. Spitzenklasse! | Well, actually this was just a spontaneous gift to a friend and not a commission - but anyone could see he had it coming. |
